Mrs Mallika Jalan also spoke in the same vein as Mrs Singh, namely on the the dire environmental conditions that we face nowadays; leading to disasters right now around our country - floods in Bengaluru and Mumbai and pollution high in Delhi and Kolkata.
Greenhouse Gases and climate change was also discussed, and the audience was then shown an interactive video on climate change and its effects.
The Green For Life Foundation trustees felicitated the Chief guest, was none other than Mr Arun Lal, former Indian cricketer and commentator, while being an avid environmentalist at the same time, with his own organic farm. Mr Lal delivered a gripping speech which left each one hanging on each word of his. “It's not an obligation, it's a passion, it comes from within”, was probably the most inspiring outtake from his speech.
Students from St James, Shri Shikshayatan, The Assembly of God Church School, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, St Teresa’s School, St Peter’s School, Union Chapel, Modern School, St Anthony’s, Maheshwari Girls school, Loreto bowbazaar and others were then felicitated for their participation in Van Mahotsav ’16, Greening Young Minds and Tree Plantation Drive.
A skit was then staged by Moulali Rongoshilpi on spreading awareness about deforestation. After a few words from the trustees of the Foundation, the program was brought to a close.
