With global warming becoming a growing cause of concern, people all over the world are becoming more environmentally conscious, using energy saving equipment, pollution free means of transportation, opting for cleaner fuels and investing in electric cars and bikes as well as reducing, reusing and recycling for a greener life.

And now comes a new form of recycling known as fashion recycling. The new trend seems to be recycled fashion which is the reuse of old clothes and throw away items to make new clothes and create a new form of “trashion” if you will. Fashion is now being taken to new heights with the creation of revolutionary clothes made from waste products. Bags made from, cleaned, recycled plastic juice wrappers, drink bags and rice bags are a new trend, hand bags made with recycled rubber from tyre tubes and jewellery made from recycled glass as well as other useful reusable materials like recycled silk and natural, unbleached cotton, are now being used to make cloths and accessories 100 percent environmentally friendly.

This also helps to keep the world's landfills a little clear. Another alternative rather than purchasing new clothes made from recycled materials would be to recycle your old ones. This can be done by giving your old clothes a new look by altering its appearance - for example your old jeans can be cut and made into shorts, an old maxi skirt can be made into a new mini, turn an old shirt into a shrug or make a fingerless glove from a t-shirt sleeve... the possibilities are end less.

A clothes swapping party is another option that is becoming popular. You can organize a party where you invite your friend over, each one brings a bunch of clothes which they no longer use and spend all night swapping and trying on clothes, the rest which do not find a place with anyone can be donated to a charity, The Salvation Army or a shelter for the poor instead of throwing them away. There are also a few companies that will recycle your old clothes and make new products from them. Recycling is always better then filling up already overflowing landfills. So go ahead and set a new trend, a green revolution and become a “trashionista"!
