EarthSmiles.net is all about the environment, respect and - the young! Naturally, our planet-friendly selves take schools as a number one priority in all outreach projects. From our first Eco-friendly Art Competition at a city school back in 2009, to certifying school festivals "Planet-friendly" today, we always aim to organically help students make the right choices through awareness and through actively opting for low carbon alternatives, wherever possible, Making green a habit is very much a possibility for the young, and we want tomorrow's citizens to take decisions which are green, without all the conflict that today's generation have!
The outreach with our partner schools touches advocacy and information - with our website as the central hub - but also encourages real green action by them, and rewards choosing projects that cause measurable environmental good, not just greenwash, pep talks and lip-service.
Planet Points for Schools. Enabling schools with green activity, ideas and implementations, and awarding them for being "Planet-friendly institutions." Schools need to sucessfully do a pre-determined number of green projects over a year, and implement at least one long-term 'environmental good' to be certified. Evaluation and labling of their school events can also be done. However, even schools with a basic involvement - such as using our wall magazine /having an EarthTalk - are part of our EarthSmiles.net school family.
